5 Best Laundry Services in Canberra for a Chore-Free Weekend

Turnaround and access: I checked which shops stay open 24 hours a day and which mobile services return your clothes within 24 hours. Waiting days for clean work shirts or fresh sheets throws off your whole routine.

Pickup and delivery terms: I looked closely at call-out fees, booking schedules and the suburbs each driver covers. Elderly residents and busy professionals need door-to-door help rather than another errand across town.

Capacity and specialty care: I compared drum sizes, commercial linen hire and dedicated pet machines to see who handles big or messy loads.

I also checked which providers offer proper dry cleaning, pressing and alterations, since a suit or delicate dress can be ruined in a standard wash.

Waiting comfort and extras: I gave extra credit to self-service spots that include free detergent, Wi-Fi or somewhere comfortable to sit. An hour spent watching a drum spin in a cold room feels like wasted time.

I once let my washing pile up for two weeks during a brutal Canberra winter. I ended up spending my entire Sunday watching clothes spin while my flat stayed freezing cold.

Losing a whole weekend to chores is a miserable trade-off, and getting it back means finding a provider that handles your garments properly without charging a fortune.

So I compared local providers across the capital and checked their service terms, turnaround times and pricing.

Here are the best laundry services in Canberra, from self-service laundromats to pickup teams and dry cleaners.

1. N-Less Washing Laundromat Braddon

n-less-washing-laundromat-braddon

Website: nlesslaundromat.com.au

Address: G03/1 Elouera Street, Braddon

Contact: 02 6182 5297

Hours: Open 24 hours, 7 days a week

Hauling a heavy bottle of soap down the street at midnight is nobody’s idea of fun. N-Less Washing Laundromat Braddon gives you 24/7 access to fast machines with free detergent and softener included.

You just walk in with your basket and start a cycle. That is a lifesaver for students without an in-unit machine who wash clothes after late lectures.

Their drums come in 10 kg, 15 kg and 20 kg sizes. You can use the massage chairs, arcade games or snack vending machines while you wait.

They also run a commercial linen hire program that supplies fresh sheets and towels for hotels, motels and short-term rental hosts.

The catch is that it’s entirely self-service, so you have to load and fold everything yourself. The cheapest machine also holds only 10 kg, so bulky loads need one of the larger, pricier drums.

Pros

  • Open 24 hours, 7 days a week
  • Free detergent and softener included
  • 10 kg, 15 kg and 20 kg machines
  • Commercial linen hire for accommodation hosts

Cons

  • Self-service only, so you load and fold yourself
  • Cheapest machine holds only 10 kg

Customer Reviews

Honestly one of the best laundromat experiences I’ve had.

The facilities are top notch. There’s a little arcade play zone, a massage chair, and a coffee machine  so while your clothes are going around, you’re actually relaxing. The place itself is spotless, the machines are easy to use, and it’s all tap and go. No fussing around with coins or confusing tech.

Honestly one of the best laundromat experiences I’ve had. Clean, clever, and genuinely comfortable. 5 stars, no hesitation.

This is the most Gucci self-service laundromat that I’ve ever been to.

This is the most Gucci self-service laundromat that I’ve ever been to. I’ve never seen a laundromat with a grass wall. It’s very clean.  The machines are operated over Wi-Fi, and it’s pay by card or app. Laundry detergent is included.

2. Laundromat Gungahlin – Spinzone

laundromat-gungahlin-spinzone

Website: spinzone.com.au/locations/spinzone-gungahlin-act-2912/

Address: G02/2 Gribble Street, Gungahlin

Contact: 0411 545 436

Hours: Open 24 hours, 7 days a week

Washing dog blankets in the same drum you use for work shirts feels grim. Laundromat Gungahlin – Spinzone sets aside a dedicated pet-friendly machine alongside its 24/7 washers and dryers.

The Gribble Street shop also supplies free detergent and softener automatically, which saves you money and bag space on every trip. The eco-friendly machines run on reduced water and energy to keep utility use low.

Plus, you can easily log on to the free high-speed Wi-Fi to clear out your inbox or stream a show while you wait. When I dropped by with a winter quilt, the connection was fast enough to handle my video calls without a hiccup.

On the downside, Gungahlin is a long drive if you live in South Canberra, and having multiple Spinzone branches around town can confuse first-time visitors checking directions.

Pros

  • Open 24 hours, 7 days a week
  • Dedicated pet-friendly washing machine
  • Free detergent and fabric softener
  • Free high-speed Wi-Fi

Cons

  • Long drive for South Canberra residents
  • Multiple branches can confuse first-time visitors

Very clean facility.

Easy pay feature with a centralised pay system that even lets you select multiple machines to pay for at once. There’s also coin slots at each machine if you want to pay the old school way. Very clean facility. Big dryers too. Little cafe next door to chill while you wait.

3. Dial an Ironer | Canberra & Queanbeyan

dial-an-ironer-canberra-queanbeyan

Website: dialanironer.com.au

Areas Served: Canberra and Queanbeyan

Contact: 0400 097 744

Hours: By arrangement, including pickup and delivery

Spending Sunday evening hunched over an ironing board gets old fast. Dial an Ironer has taken that chore off your hands since 2008, picking up washing, dry cleaning and ironing from your home or office.

They also do alterations, so one mobile service can handle both a wrinkled pile of work shirts and a loose hem. That saves busy professionals a trip to the shops.

You can book their wash-and-fold or pressing service weekly or fortnightly for a flat $12 pickup fee. They also welcome NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) clients.

Everything comes back pressed and ready for the wardrobe, which suits elderly residents who find heavy laundry baskets tough to manage.

That said, you have to undo every collar, body and sleeve button on your shirts before collection or pay an extra fee.

Pros

  • Laundry, ironing, dry cleaning and alterations in one service
  • Home or office pickup and delivery ($12 fee)
  • Weekly and fortnightly booking options
  • Welcomes NDIS participants

Cons

  • Extra fee if shirt buttons aren’t undone

We’ll definitely be using them again in the future.

Outstanding service! One of our cats unfortunately had an accident on our king-size doona. We attempted to clean it ourselves, but the smell only got worse. Thankfully, we reached out to Kevin from Dial an Ironer and arranged a pick-up and delivery service. Kevin collected the doona and returned it two days later in immaculate condition—you’d never know anything had happened! We’re incredibly impressed and highly recommend their service. We’ll definitely be using them again in the future.

4. Jim’s Laundry Services

jims-laundry-services

Website: jimslaundryservices.com.au

Areas Served: ACT, including Canberra, Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong and Woden Valley

Contact: 131 546

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM | Saturday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Waiting half a week to get fresh linens back doesn’t work when guests are checking in tomorrow. Jim’s Laundry Services collects and returns your rental property washing within 24 hours, keeping your turnover schedule running smoothly.

Their drivers cover the whole territory from Belconnen to Tuggeranong, so you don’t pay extra call-out fees no matter which side of the lake you live on.

That speed shows up in practice. My neighbour booked them for her dad’s weekly sheets while she was busy sorting out a window replacement, and the driver had everything back on the porch the very next morning.

Every operator is police-checked and insured, which matters when someone is handling your washing. They take on everything from everyday wash-and-fold and dry cleaning to NDIS support loads and aged care or hospital linen.

Keep in mind, though, that they take on big commercial contracts for care facilities and clubs, so domestic households sometimes compete for booking slots.

Pros

  • 24-hour turnaround from pickup to delivery
  • Free pickup and delivery across the ACT
  • Police-checked and insured operators
  • Covers residential, commercial and NDIS laundry

Cons

  • Domestic clients compete with commercial accounts
