Your go-to guide for exploring the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra

I’ve been looking for something new to try out since we’re still pretty new to the area. A friend of mine casually mentioned the Royal Australian Mint, saying it’s one of those places you have to check out in Canberra.

Honestly, I’d never even thought about how coins are made, let alone seen it happen. It felt like one of those things you only see in movies, so I figured—why not give it a shot?

I’m glad I did because it turned out to be such a fun experience. Watching the machines stamp coins with perfect precision and seeing the massive Super Pit full of shiny coins was such a cool sight.

I even got to mint my own souvenir coin, which was a nice little keepsake to take home. Now, I’m already planning to bring my family here when they visit—it’s something they’d really enjoy.

If you’re looking for something different and surprisingly entertaining, the Royal Australian Mint is definitely worth checking out. It’s a unique way to spend a couple of hours and learn something new!
