The 5 Best Skylight Installers in Canberra to Illuminate Dim Spaces
Canberra gets plenty of sunshine, but some hallways apparently didn’t get the memo. If yours needs a light switched on at midday, it’s time to look up.
A fresh roof aperture can brighten those dim corners, but too much direct sunlight can turn them into a summer sauna. The right skylight, proper installation and good ceiling insulation can help keep things bright and comfortable.
With that in mind, we’ve put together this guide to the best skylight installation in Canberra. We compared local providers based on their services, experience, customer feedback and range of skylight solutions

1. Daylight Artistry
Address: Unit 17/8 Gladstone Street, Fyshwick
Contact: (02) 6280 9901 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday–Thursday: 9 AM–3 PM; Friday: 10 AM–2 PM; Saturday by appointment
Dark hallways don’t have to spend their lives impersonating cupboards. Daylight Artistry helps bring more natural light into Canberra homes by supplying and installing Solatube daylighting systems and VELUX roof windows
This locally owned, family-operated business has been established in Canberra for over 15 years.
Formerly known as Solatube Canberra, it handles both new installations and replacements for ageing or non-compliant skylights. It’s a solid choice for those who need to improve an existing setup as well as those planning a new installation.
Its Solatube Premier Dealer status is another advantage. The team includes specialised Daylighting Consultants and Certified Installation Consultants who can help homeowners consider their daylighting options.
They also install roof-ventilation systems, so we like that one contract can cover lighting and attic heat control.
The main drawback is the showroom schedule. It closes at 3 PM Monday to Thursday and 2 PM Friday. Saturday visits are available by appointment only.

2. Natural Lighting Canberra
Address: Unit 7/87 Collie Street, Fyshwick
Contact: (02) 6156 9123 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday–Friday: 9 AM–3 P
Natural Lighting Canberra offers several skylight options, which we like because different rooms can need different solutions. A dark hallway may suit a compact tubelight, while a larger living room could benefit from a glass skylight.
Their range also includes roof-access hatches and loft ladders. Custom flashings are available for tiled, metal deck, and corrugated roofs, which is useful when the installation requires more than simply choosing the right skylight.
They also provide professional installation and free installation quotes. Before preparing a quote, they even assess the proposed location and take measurements to make sure the installation is properly planned.
The main drawback is their limited hours at the Fyshwick premises. They’re open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM and closed on weekends, so visiting outside work hours can be difficult

3. National Skylights
Address: Unit 1, 6 Johns Place, Hume
Contact: 0415 623 732 | [email protected]
Hours: 7-day availability and after-hours quotes by arrangement
An ageing skylight doesn’t have to be replaced with more of the same. National Skylights specialises in removing outdated units and fitting Illume solar-powered lighting alternatives.
Serving Canberra since 1985, the business has maintained the same ownership throughout. Jamie handles both quoting and installation, giving homeowners a consistent contact for the job.
The Illume system uses a rooftop solar collector to power an interior light panel. It simulates outdoor lighting conditions without needing a traditional light shaft.
Replacement work can include reroofing and new plasterboard where required. Seven-day availability and after-hours quotes by arrangement help keep planning from swallowing a working day.
The trade-off is that Illume provides brightness without a sky view or an opening window for ventilation. It fades as the sun goes down, so night-time use requires a compatible mains-powered accessory.
“So thrilled with the recent skylight that was installed into our challenging two-storey home.”
So thrilled with the recent skylight that was installed into our challenging two-storey home. It was a challenge to have the Illume skylight installed between our upper-level bathroom and lower kitchen ceiling, but Jamie made it work, taking the time to investigate all options. Extremely professional, courteous and friendly. Highly recommend their products and service. Thank you

4. Just Rite
Address: 37 Tralee Street, Hume
Contact: (02) 6280 5300 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM–4 PM
A brighter room shouldn’t require a second career in coordinating trades. Just Rite handles skylight installations from start to finish, which gives ACT homeowners fewer moving parts to manage.
As an authorised VELUX Premium Distributor, they offer fixed skylights, sun tunnels, and opening roof windows.
We also like that their solar-powered opening models provide ventilation without requiring a winding handle. This gives homeowners more flexibility if they want both natural light and airflow.
Experience is another strength. One of their dedicated skylight installers has been with the team for over 30 years. That experience is a reassuring strength when planning an upgrade overhead.
The process includes an on-site assessment and a detailed written quote. Their workmanship also comes with a 10-year warranty, separate from the manufacturer’s product coverage.
The main thing to budget for is travel. Quote visits are free in Canberra, Queanbeyan, and Jerrabomberra, while locations outside these areas incur a travel fee.
